‘Iron X’ is the new way of removing iron particles from wheels, paintwork, glass, and other exterior surfaces.  It is very safe and easy to use. Originally, the only other way to remove iron particles from surfaces was to use an aggressive clay, which would often fail to remove the particles and leave swirls and scratches that would need to be polished out later.

It works very well on wheel it will out- perform most acid based or non-acid based wheel cleaners, whilst having the advantage of also being  a lot safer than the acid base ones.

 When applied, ‘Iron X’ reacts with the iron turning it purple initially and then to more of a reddish colour. This makes quite a sight to see.

About Claying

There is now just one more step in the decontamination process.  Claying the bodywork, glass and wheels will remove any remaining contaminants from the surfaces of your car.

Our Range Of Clays

You have two options, traditional clay or the new synthetic range of clays, which come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes.

Help with the different clay types:

Traditional or real clay can be moulded or torn up to form the desired shape and size. A typical piece of clay can be used about 15 to 30 times before the clay becomes worn out.

Synthetic Clay comes in many different forms, sizes & shapes. It can used many more times than normal clay, and can be rinsed off in water during use. It does not need to needed first, synthetic clay can be used without mounding and needing, although this can make the clay softer and easier to use.

Choosing your clay grade.

The clay grade refers to the cut, - or how aggressive the clay is on the surface of the vehicle.   For a surface with the most severe contamination you would use a heavy, or medium grade clay.                                                        

What grades are there?  

There are several grades of clay, from, Ultra- fine, fine, medium, heavy, which may also be referred to as aggressive.  You should start with an ultra-fine/ fine grade and move up to the medium if necessary to help remove those more stubborn contaminants.  You should only use a heavy grade clay if absolutely necessary as they can sometimes cause light swirls and scratches in the paintwork that would need to be polished out.

Clay grade Quick Guide

New vehicle or very light contamination we recommend an Ultra fine or fine grade clay.

Vehicle from approx. 6 months to 1 year old, we recommend a fine to medium grade clay.

Vehicles which are greater than a year we recommend medium grade clay.

For vehicles with severe contamination a heavy or aggressive grade may be best, however we would recommend using a medium grade clay first, as aggressive clays can mar the finish which will then need to be polished out.   

 If you are choosing a traditional or real clay it comes in a variety of different weights. When claying a car you will normally use about 50gm-to 75gm of clay.

Now just don’t forget to use your favourite clay lube to use with your clay.
